This tapestry was originally woven in the middle of the fifteenth century for Charles VII (1403-1461), King of France from 1422 to 1461. It depicts three mythical beasts, winged stags, one of which is inside a fenced enclosure, while the other two are stepping into it from the forests around, while two lions are prowling outside. The Royal Coats of Arms that appear are those of the House of Bourbons, and the weaving of the crowns by two of the stags indicate that the tapestry was woven for Royalty. The original is now at the Museum of Antiquities in Rouen in northern France.
This beautiful tapestry is hand-woven by skilled artisans in pure New Zealand wool, keeping alive the centuries old traditional weaving methods from generation to generation. Heirloom hold stocks of handwoven pieces, however please contact us to check availability. This tapestry is fully lined incorporating a rod pocket on the back for hanging with an exclusive Heirloom flush-to-wall hanging rod. Alternatively, this tapestry can be hung with a decorative pole of your choice.

If for some reason, you want to return your tapestry within our 30 day guarantee period, we will pay for the return if you want to try another tapestry of the same or greater value. If you decide you want to return the tapestry for a product refund, then you are responsible for the return shipping costs. Please note: Packaging materials need to be kept for inspection if a replacement item or refund is requested. If you do not keep the packing materials, unfortunately we cannot replace or refund your order.

Choosing the right size
The black bar part of the hanging rods are telescopic and will fit any tapestry widths that fall within the size range specified. For example, if your tapestry was 90cm wide you would need a Size 2 hanging rod. Note: The hanging rod can be slid in or out to show as little or as much of the black bar as you would like.
