It depicts three mythical beasts, winged stags, one of which is inside a fenced enclosure, while the other two are stepping into it from the forests around, while two lions are prowling outside.
The Royal Coats of Arms that appear are those of the House of Bourbons, and the weaving of the crowns by two of the stags indicate that the tapestry was woven for Royalty. The original is now at the Museum of Antiquities in Rouen in northern France.
This beautiful tapestry is hand-woven by skilled artisans in pure New Zealand wool, keeping alive the centuries old traditional weaving methods from generation to generation. Heirloom hold stocks of handwoven pieces, however please contact us to check availability. This tapestry is fully lined incorporating a rod pocket on the back for hanging with an exclusive Heirloom flush-to-wall hanging rod. Alternatively, this tapestry can be hung with a decorative pole of your choice.

How to hang a tapestry
Tapestries are very simple to hang in your home. There are two options for you to choose from.
Decorative Flush-to-Wall Tapestry Hanging Rod
Choose from two finial options, Black Spear or Brass Fleur de Lys to hang your tapestry totally flush to the wall with Heirloom's specially developed hanging rods for tapestries. Simply slide your hanging rod through the rod pocket that is sewn along the top edge of the back of the tapestry so that the finials and some of the black bar is showing either side. (You can have as much or as little of the back bar as you wish showing as the hanging rods are telescopic).
Once you are happy with where you want the tapestry to hang, mark on the wall through the eyelets on each finial where you need to drill the wall. Then simply drill and plug both holes and then screw your tapestry to the wall.
Heirloom tapestry hanging rods are specially designed to be flush-mounted to the wall securing the tapestry in the best way possible to ensure that it looks great for years to come.
'Bronze' Feather Style Hanging Rod
Heirloom's Feather style hanging rods are telescopic and come complete with a set of tassels for the perfect finish. Designed to hang on brackets which are included, these rods are perfectly spaced away from the wall to include a tassel either side for decoration.
Obscure Wooden Batten
If you would rather fix your tapestry to the wall without any decorative rod you need to select a wooden batten when adding your tapestry to the basket. Each batten is cut to size specifically for your tapestry and works on the same principle as a decorative hanging rod with a pre-drilled hole at each end to fix to the wall.
All decorative hanging rods and wooden battens from Heirloom Tapestries come with screws and plugs and a set of instructions how to fit to your wall.
