Return of the Fisherman Handwoven Tapestry - (5'2" x 6'11") 157 x 211 cm

$4,995.00
SKU HW1235
5'2" x 6'11" (157 x 211 cm)
In stock, ready to ship The "Return of the Fisherman" tapestry is based on an original design by David Teniers II (1610-1690) and was woven in Brussels around 1740 in the renowned atelier of Jérôme Le Clerc and Jacques Van der Borcht. Fishing and trading scenes, particularly those depicting the northern ports, were popular subjects in 17th-century Flemish art. These maritime themes emerged as a way for Flemish weavers to compete with the French pastoral scenes that dominated the period. This tapestry captures the dynamic life of coastal communities, highlighting the intricate craftsmanship and historical significance of the time. This tapestry is fully lined incorporating a rod pocket on the back for hanging with an exclusive Heirloom flush-to-wall hanging rod. Alternatively, this tapestry can be hung with a decorative pole of your choice.
