This tapestry is after a design by the famous French painter, J. B Oudry (1686-1755), and inspired by the noble pastime of hunting, a popular and recurring subject in tapestry weaving during the 18th Century. Oudry was the Artist-Director of the Royal Tapestry Manufactory of Beauvais in France, and was appointed Inspector of The Royal Gobelins Manufactory in Paris in 1733, which produced tapestries for the French Royal Court.
Oudry raised the quality of production at Beauvais to a pitch of excellence and popularity essential to the survival of a privately-owned but state-subsidized enterprise, catering for noble and wealthy patrons.
The setting of this scene is the Forest of Compigne, to the north of Paris.
This beautiful tapestry is woven on a jacquard loom by skilled weavers, keeping alive the centuries old tradition of tapestry manufacturing from generation to generation. This tapestry is fully lined incorporating a rod pocket on the back for hanging with an exclusive Heirloom flush-to-wall hanging rod. Alternatively, this tapestry can be hung with a decorative pole of your choice.

If you decide you want to return the tapestry for a product refund, then you are responsible for the return shipping costs. Please note: Packaging materials need to be kept for inspection if a replacement item or refund is requested. If you do not keep the packing materials, unfortunately we cannot replace or refund your order.

Tapestry Hanging Options
After selecting your tapestry and adding it to the shopping bag, you can choose your hanging rod option from the hanging rod page by clicking here.
Choosing the right size
The black bar part of the hanging rods are telescopic and will fit any tapestry widths that fall within the size range specified. For example, if your tapestry was 90cm wide you would need a Size 2 hanging rod. Note: The hanging rod can be slid in or out to show as little or as much of the black bar as you would like.
