Originally woven at the Tournai Workshops in Flanders at the end of the fifteenth century, this tapestry depicts richly-dressed country folk holding a banquet in a rustic landscape.
The scene is of country nobility partaking of a feast, and about to be joined by the lord and lady of the manor. Surrounding the scene are various peasants engaged in tending the sheep; one of whom is winding wool on a distaff, while another is providing a musical accompaniment on the bagpipes. The disproportion of the subject matter is an unmistakable distinguishing feature of tapestries of this period.
This style of this tapestry reflects a transitional period between the Mille-Fleurs tapestries of the fifteenth century and the landscape scenes of the Renaissance period.
Silk screened tapestries are also known as serigraphic tapestries. Each silk-screened tapestry is serigraphed onto irregularly woven fabric (wool, cotton or linen). Considerable labour is required with this process, including hand-painting to finish the details. Silk screen tapestries appear antiqued and aged giving them the look and feel of tapestries that hang in museums today. This tapestry is fully lined incorporating a rod pocket on the back for hanging with an exclusive Heirloom flush-to-wall hanging rod. Alternatively, this tapestry can be hung with a decorative pole of your choice.

About Heirloom Fabrics - The Chateau Collection
The Chateau Collection is presented as a unique collection of finely-woven tapestry fabrics, suitable for a wide variety of uses for interior furnishing, including curtains and upholstery, as well as other decorative accessories.
Produced in the traditional weaving regions of Europe, these fine quality furnishing fabrics are woven on Jacquard looms by silled craftsmen using carefully selected yarns, creating attractive textures in authenic colours.
Styles span an extensive historical period, from the great Bayeux Tapestry of the 11th Century, through the Medieval and Renaissance eras of the later periods, to the English 'Arts & Crafts' designs of the late 19th Century.
Inspired from the past, woven for the present, these richly-textured fabrics will provide a luxurious warmth and finesse to complement the interior decoration of any property, whether period or contemporary, for the most discerning of clients around the world.
The black bar part of the hanging rods are telescopic and will fit any tapestry widths that fall within the size range specified. For example, if your tapestry was 90cm wide you would need a Size 2 hanging rod. Note: The hanging rod can be slid in or out to show as little or as much of the black bar as you would like.
