This tapestry was originally woven in the middle of the fifteenth century for
Charles VII (1403-1461), King of France from 1422 to 1461.
It depicts three mythical beasts, winged stags, two of which are stepping into a fenced enclosure, safe from the two lions prowling in the forests around.
The stag situated in the centre is supporting a standard bearing the emblem of
Saint Michael.
The Royal Coat-of-Arms that appears is that of the House of Bourbon and the weaving of the crowns worn by two of the stags indicate that the tapestry was woven for Royalty.
The original is now at the Museum of Antiquities in Rouen in northern France.
Silk screened tapestries are also known as serigraphic tapestries. Each silk-screened tapestry is serigraphed onto irregularly woven fabric (wool, cotton or linen). Considerable labour is required with this process, including hand-painting to finish the details. Silk screen tapestries appear antiqued and aged giving them the look and feel of tapestries that hang in museums today. This tapestry is fully lined incorporating a rod pocket on the back for hanging with an exclusive Heirloom flush-to-wall hanging rod. Alternatively, this tapestry can be hung with a decorative pole of your choice.

About Heirloom Fabrics - The Chateau Collection
The Chateau Collection is presented as a unique collection of finely-woven tapestry fabrics, suitable for a wide variety of uses for interior furnishing, including curtains and upholstery, as well as other decorative accessories.
Produced in the traditional weaving regions of Europe, these fine quality furnishing fabrics are woven on Jacquard looms by silled craftsmen using carefully selected yarns, creating attractive textures in authenic colours.
Styles span an extensive historical period, from the great Bayeux Tapestry of the 11th Century, through the Medieval and Renaissance eras of the later periods, to the English 'Arts & Crafts' designs of the late 19th Century.
Inspired from the past, woven for the present, these richly-textured fabrics will provide a luxurious warmth and finesse to complement the interior decoration of any property, whether period or contemporary, for the most discerning of clients around the world.
The black bar part of the hanging rods are telescopic and will fit any tapestry widths that fall within the size range specified. For example, if your tapestry was 90cm wide you would need a Size 2 hanging rod. Note: The hanging rod can be slid in or out to show as little or as much of the black bar as you would like.
